Valley View Riders
We are an equine organization that promotes trail riding opportunities, equine education, and the enjoyment of horses.
Who we are
Valley View Riders is a riding group founded in 1969 with a focus on providing recreational horseback riding opportunities and equine education for its members. We have approximately 150 members in the Portland-metro area. Our members participate in various riding disciplines, including Western pleasure, hunter/jumper, dressage, gaming, showing, ranch versatility, driving, drill team, trail riding, as well as many more.
What we do
Organized Trail Rides
Our trail bosses organize regular hosted trail rides at various sites throughout the Willamette Valley and Southern Washington.
Yearly Benefit Ride
In past years, Valley View Riders has raised money for the 4-H Youth Horse Camp, OSU Equine Vet School, OHSET, Christie School's riding program for severely troubled children, Bradley's Equine Assisted Therapeutic Riding Center (BEAT), Healing Winds Therapeutic Riding Center, PRIDE Equine Rescue Group, and Forward Stride, a non-profit organization that helps people with special needs to heal and succeed through therapeutic horseback riding.
Camping Trips
Each year we have a Summer camping trip and a Fall beach riding campout.
Playday
Our Playday in late October provides our members and their families with fun horse games and activities.
Other Activities
Throughout the year, we participate in volunteer trail maintenance groups and organized horse clinics. Our members also benefit from guest speakers at our monthly meetings and at our annual awards banquet.
